Cavalry Portfolio Services LLC is a collection agency incorporated in the State of Delaware on May 6, 2002.

Cavalry Investments, LLC, is the manager of Cavalry Portfolio, LLC. In turn, Cavalry Investment Holdings, LLC is the manager of Cavalry Investments, LLC.

Like many large debt collectors, Cavalry appears to be privately held.

Cavalry Portfolio Services, LLC, Cavalry SPV I, LLC and Cavalry Investments, LLC have registered with the Division of Corporations of the Secretary of State of Florida to transact business in Florida. Cavalry Portfolio’s application to transact business in Florida stated that the nature of the company’s business to be conducted in Florida is the “collection of performing and non-performing receivables of parent company”.

Cavalry Portfolio Services, LLC and Cavalry SPV I, LLC are licensed by the Florida Office of Financial Regulation to collect consumer debts in Florida.

Cavalry Portfolio Services purports to “service” the accounts which, according to Cavalry, are owned by the special purpose vehicle (“SPV”).

Cavalry Portfolio Services files collection lawsuits selectively against Florida consumers. An individual’s odds of being sued by a debt buyer is surprisingly low.

Since January, 2009, Cavalry Portfolio Services has been sued in approximately 195 lawsuits which alleged that Cavalry Portfolio Services violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. For information about FDCPA lawsuits filed against Cavalry Portfolio Services, click on the highlighted portion of this sentence.

Cavalry has been named as a defendant in FDPCA lawsuits arising from Cavalry’s attempts to collect debts which were allegedly barred by the statute of limitations.

Consumers should consult with an experienced consumer lawyer before they pay or even agree to pay a penny towards any accounts which they do not know the statute of limitations. Florida consumers are welcome to contact my office for a free consultation about the statute of limitations based upon the facts of their case.

On March 25, 2011, Cavalry Portfolio Services filed an Annual Report with the Florida Division of Corporations stating that the company’s new headquarters address is :

500 Summit Lake Drive; Suite 400

Valhalla, NY 10595

Cavalry Portfolio Services also reported an additional address
at :

9522 East 47th Place; Suite H
Tulsa, OK 74145

to the Texas Public Utilities Commission.

Cavalry Portfolio Service’s website is :

and

Consumers who have additional telephone incoming telephone numbers that they believe are used by Cavalry Portfolio Services collection agency are encouraged to share these telephone numbers by commenting. We will attempt to verify the numbers and add them to our list.

(I provide information concerning collection agencies to assist consumers in their on-line search for information. When I do so, I am not stating or implying anything about how the collection agency collects debts.)

Calvary withdrew monies from my debit card, without my consent or knowledge. I do not even know what they are collecting for and tried to have the charge cancelled by card company, but was unable to. I have filed a claim with the local police department and with the card company.

Adurey : Cavalry sues sometimes so they might have a judgment against you. If there is not a judgment, you should consult with a FDCPA lawyer in your city to assist you. The police are not equipped to handle this or obtain the comprehensive settlement that you probably need.

A gentleman calling from Calvary suggested that I find myself a boyfriend who would help me out..in exchange for ‘helping him out’ …i.e. prostitute myself to pay my debts. Unfortunately, he hasn’t called again (now that I am prepared), I would love the opportunity to sue this company.

Stacy – A woman who returned from serving in Iraq received a similar “welcome home” from a debt collector. Unfortunately, the trail was cold long before she contacted me. I recommend that you preserve the caller ID info (complete the Phone Harassment Logs available at the top of this page) and consult with a FDCPA lawyer who maintains an office in your state in order to assist you in enforcing your rights. Good luck.

Here is another number for them 888-229-6008. They called my home from a number that is not even listed anywhere, it is a magic jack number and the person on the other end said he was taking care of business for said person at this number and he was in Tulsa, OK, NOT, I have no business in Tulsa, OK, they are so deceptive.

My husband is paying another agency for his debt, but this guy Mr. [XXXX] from Cavalry Portfolio Services keeps calling him telling him that he owes him not the company that he is paying. He only has [a couple of] months left with the company then they will be sending him a letter saying he paid the debt. Mr XXXX calls everyday telling my husband that he needs to have this company that is collecting the money send it to Cavalry. The company that is working with my husband will not send any money and Mr. XXXX is threating him because he says he is not getting his debt paid an that he will take legal action. I don’t think that my husband should have to pay two companys for the same debt. Mr XXXX will not back off and my husband has told him that he is already taken care of it and to stop calling but the calls just keep coming. What should we do to make it stop. We live in pa so i know you cant do anything but any help would be great!

Tammy : Your husband needs to consult with an experienced PA consumer rights (FDCPA) lawyer. There are many additional facts that his lawyer will need in order to advise him how to respond to simultaneous demands by two collection agencies. He should consult with a PA lawyer without delay.

I received a bill from Cavalry stating they had purchased a loan from Burns and Burns and I owed them. I have been paying Burns and Burns every month since 2008. I have never been billed for this loan or I would have paid it. I’m afraid to mail Cavary a check. On the back of their loan demand, there is at the very bottom a line saying they have the right to use my bank and account numbers. I live on a very small fixed income and am afraid they will take all my money from my checking account. It is only **** but all I have. ****

I keep getting calls from 888-229-6008. It comes up Cavalry on the caller ID. I do not answer calls from people I do not know, so I let it go to voice mail. They never leave a message. Is this number associated with Cavalry Portfolio Services? ***

Many people complain that they are receiving calls from debt collectors attempting to collect a debt from someone they don’t even know. It’s a pain when the debt collector continues to call.
I recommend that people who are the targets of misguided debt collector calls use the phone harassment logs available by clicking on the tool bar (at the top of this page). Tell the debt collector
early and often that you don’t know the person (if true) and be sure to log the dates and times when you do so. Also log the dates, times, and caller ID info of the calls you don’t answer. Save
the messages and code the date and time into the file name. Then, contact a consumer rights lawyer who is licensed to practice law in your state and meet with him or her to review your potential
case.

PRA uses so many different phone numbers, I wonder why they don’t have their own “country code”. One consumer reported PRA used numbers having area codes normally associated with 37 different states and Canada.

My problem is that there is another person with the same first name middle initial and my maiden last name. The have harassed my 82 year old mother on a number of occasions even going as far as trying to serve me legal documents at her home. I have never lived at my Mom’s. They have called my sister in northern Vermont on a few occasions and call my Mom’s house in Florida several times a week. I have contacted them several times supposedly get them to realize that I am not the person they are looking for and they promise to write notes in their files concerning that. But they don’t stop! For a while my poor mother thought I was in trouble and because I am on the deed with her she was afraid she would lose her home (until she went and spoke with her attorney)
